STEUBENVILLE, Ohio—Franciscan University of Steubenville Athletics and Adidas have entered a three year agreement that will provide exclusive footwear and apparel for all Baron teams beginning this 2011-12 academic year.
“We are pleased to announce this partnership between Franciscan Athletics and Adidas,” said Franciscan University athletic director Chris Ledyard. “This agreement provides a greater opportunity for our student-athletes to proudly represent the Barons in apparel that streamlines our identity as we move forward in the growth of our athletics program.”
Franciscan University recently unveiled a redesigned athletics logo and completed its fourth year of NCAA provisional membership. The University will receive its official membership as a Division III school this week.
This partnership with Adidas marks the first time Franciscan Athletics has ever been outfitted by one brand. This partnership also makes Franciscan one of the few NCAA Division III programs in the United States to enter an exclusive contract such as this.
Franciscan University has over 200 student-athletes competing in women’s and men’s basketball, women’s and men’s cross country, women’s and men’s tennis, track and field, women’s volleyball, women’s and men’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, and softball. Men’s rugby is the University’s fourteenth sport but is not NCAA sponsored.
As a member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference started in 1997, Franciscan University’s men’s and women’s cross country teams and the men’s tennis team are currently defending conference champions. More information about the University’s athletic program can be found at www.franciscanathletics.com, the official home of Baron athletics.
