AMCC Reveals Presidents Cup Standings for Fall
Gibsonia, Pa. – Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Commissioner Donna Ledwin released the current Presidents Cup standings following the 2011 fall season on Wednesday. Penn State Behrend holds the lead with Franciscan University in fourth place.
Behrend won five of the seven fall sport conference championships to accumulate 59.5 points for the first place standing. Behrend’s titles include men’s and women’s soccer, men’s cross country, men’s golf, and women’s tennis. Currently sitting in second place is Penn State Altoona, tallying 53 points after earning the regular season title in women’s soccer and winning the women’s volleyball championship.
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford holds third place with 45 points.
Franciscan University earned 38.5 points in the standings, trailed closely by Medaille College (36.5). Franciscan’s highest point-earners were men’s and women’s cross country, women’s tennis and volleyball.
Women’s cross country earned its fourth straight conference title this fall while the men’s team placed second. Women’s tennis followed in points for its runners-up status at the AMCC championship. Women’s volleyball fell in the first round of the conference tournament to Behrend, 3-1.
The final Presidents Cup standings are compiled and released following the full 2011-12 academic year. Congratulations to our student-athletes in a successful fall season!
