AMCC All-Conference Sportsmanship Team Announced
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference announced its 2010-11 All-Conference Sportsmanship Teams this week. Representing 11 sports, Franciscan University student-athletes were chosen by their teams for displaying good sportsmanship throughout the season.
Adding to the six student-athletes awarded in the fall, Connor Flanagan and Caitlin Donovan were chosen by Franciscan’s basketball teams. Seniors Patrick Wilmot and Lara Plumlee were honored for tennis and softball, respectively. Sophomore Tom Costello rounded out the spring sports honorees in baseball.
Per the AMCC bylaws, all conference member institution sports teams may select one member “who consistently demonstrates a high level of ethical conduct, respect and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. Such sportsmanship shall be evident toward teammates, coaches, opponents, officials and fans. He/She must also serve as a positive representative of school spirit when a spectator at other teams’ sporting events.”
Congratulations to all Franciscan University student-athletes honored with this award!
