AMCC Player of the Week: Merry Brings Home the Title

For the week of April 18, Luke Merry was honored by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference as player of the week for men’s tennis. Merry was a key player in the weekend’s AMCC championship win for the Barons.

A freshman from Galena, Ohio, Merry won two crucial flights for Franciscan during the tournament. Teaming up with former player of the week, Leonel Lacayo, the duo won the No. 2 double title. Merry went on to earn a comeback victory over Penn State Altoona’s Jarred Sutton at the No. 4 singles spot (4-6, 7-5, 6-1). The singles victory was the clinching point for Franciscan toppling three-time defending champion Penn State Behrend in earning the Barons first ever AMCC Championship
