Runners Honored for Championship Performance
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Receiving the honor of Player of the Week is not unusual for cross country runners Nicole Krajewski and Bill Jones. It is the third time for Krajewski and the fourth for Jones to be recognized by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference for outstanding performances this season.
Competing in the AMCC cross country championships this past weekend, the two led their teams to clinching the championship titles while earning the individual titles along the way.
Krajewski, a sophomore from Battle Creek, Mich., ran the championship 6K in 23:31 to earn her second league title. The Lady Barons went on to win the championship for a fourth straight year with a team total of 24 points.
Jones, a junior from Green Bay, Wis., finished the men’s 8K 1:15 ahead of his competition. Earning his third individual title—and second consecutive—he finished the course in 26:53 to lead the Barons to their second straight team crown. The Barons totaled only 23 team points at the championship.
Jones and Krajewski will join their fellow top runners to compete at the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Meet on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Oberlin College. The women run at 11 a.m. with the men following at noon.
