STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – Mallori Linscomb completed her first season with the Lady Barons softball program in record-setting fashion, earning her Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Third Team All-Conference honors.
The Lake Jackson, Texas, native is now the Lady Baron Softball single-season record holder in batting average (.362), hits (21), doubles (11), RBIs (16), total bases (32), and slugging percentage (.552).
“(Mallori Linscomb) has unbelievable talent,” said head coach Terry Leighty. “She had been out of the game for a while, but she quickly got back on track. I can’t wait to see what she does in future seasons.”
Linscomb did not play in the first eight games of the season that took place in Florida, giving her a late start compared to the rest of the Lady Barons and their competition.
According to Leighty, Linscomb can play any position on defense, but she is most comfortable behind the plate. She was forced to play third base and shortstop this season, but Leighty hopes she will be playing mostly catcher in 2013.
“She has the ability to inspire her teammates with her work ethic and love for the game,” Leighty added. “I was so proud of her that she made an all-conference team.”
