Three Lady Barons Earn AMCC All-Conference for Volleyball

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The top performance of Anna Cain, Meg Kay and Nicole Henson were honored by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference at the end of the 2011 season. The Franciscan University Lady Baron volleyball players were named to first and second all-conference teams.

Junior Anna Cain earned First Team All-Conference with her conference topping hitting percentage of .380 and her 4.14 kills per set average that placed her second in the AMCC. The Williamsburg, Iowa, native made the jump to first team after earning third team last season.

After four years of varsity play, senior and Bloomington, Ill., native Nicole Henson earned Second Team All-Conference for her performance at libero.

“I was so happy to see Nicole chosen for second team,” head coach Kelly Herrmann said. “She’s a very gifted libero in which pain means nothing to her – she just gets to the ball and makes crazy play after crazy play. She will be difficult to replace.”

Rounding out the three honorees was junior Meg Kay. Hailing from Perrysburg, Ohio, Kay has now earned all-conference honors two years in a row. Honored on the Second Team All-Conference, the junior earned first team honors last season.

Kay saw less court team in 2011 after suffering an injury partway through the season.

The Lady Barons finished the season 12-13 overall and 5-4 in the AMCC.
