STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – Franciscan University and Penn State Behrend’s cross country teams know each other well; the two schools are each other’s top contenders at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championships every year. And the AMCC dually notes the talent in the naming this year’s all-conference teams.
Earning Runner of the Year for a second time, sophomore Nicole Krajewski is joined on the women’s All-Conference Team by fellow sophomores Molly Chambers and Claire Bach. Also earning the honor are seniors Theresa Evans, Sara Mueller, and Mary Nevin Brockway. Rounding out the Franciscan representation is junior Danielle Bonnessen.
Also earning Runner of the Year is Franciscan’s leader in Baron cross country, junior Bill Jones. Joining him on the AMCC men’s All-Conference team are Kevin LeRoy, Jack Kaiser, Patrick Flanagan, Michael McLaughlin, Joey Schlueter, and Marcus Fluty. LeRoy, a senior, earned all-conference honors in 2008, 2009 and 2010, as well.
For a fourth consecutive year, the Lady Barons clinched the championship crown while the Barons placed a close second behind Penn State Behrend. The top seven runners from the men’s and women’s teams went on to participate in the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional meet, with Jones qualifying for the NCAA national championship. There, he placed 115th out of 279.
