Sarah Albaugh joins the Barons beginning in the 2015-16 athletic year after serving as an Athletic Trainer with UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside. Her main responsibility with UPMC was to provide athletic training services to the North Allegheny School District. She also provided athletic training services to Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre for the Beauty and the Beast and the Nutcracker performances.
While with UPMC, Albaugh served as a Casual Call Athletic Trainer and provided athletic training services to various UPMC contracts on an as needed basis. She worked with such groups as The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh Passion, Penguins Youth and Adult hockey tournaments, HEADS UP Pittsburgh concussion testing, and the Pittsburgh area school districts for event and activity coverage.
Prior to working with UPMC, Albaugh earned her Masters of Science in exercise physiology/athletic training from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. While earning her Masters, Albaugh worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer and worked primarily with the East Liverpool High School as the Head Athletic Trainer. Prior to starting her graduate work, Albaugh was an Athletic Training Intern at Kent State and worked with the cross country and track & field teams. She controlled all aspects of rehabilitation from starting and progression exercises. She worked side-by-side with physicians while attempting alternative approaches for resolution of conditions and injuries.
While an undergrad at Kent State, Albaugh served as an athletic training student and worked with the football, women’s basketball and women’s soccer teams over her tenure.
Albaugh has volunteered at the Dick’s Sporting Good Pittsburgh Marathon in 2014 and 2015 as an aid station manager.
She is a board certified athletic trainer and is certified in the states of Pennsylvania, West Viriginia and Ohio. Albaugh has her Red Cross CPR/AED certification as well as her American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Provider. She is a ASEP Sports First Aid Instruction as well. Albaugh is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainers’ Association.
