Barons Lose DoubleHeader to Pitt-Greensburg
GREENSBURG, PA - Franciscan University of Steubenville Barons baseball team had a tough road trip Thursday to visit the Bobcats of the University of Pitt-Greensburg, dropping both games 14-2 and 14-3 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action. The Barons are winless in the AMCC (0-4) and have an overall record of 3-12.
In the first game, DH Dustin Pagano hit well going 2-3 with 1 RBI while scoring 1 run. Centerfielder Ryan Marrow went 1-2 with the Barons only other RBI. Starting pitcher Will Peyton went 5 innings giving up 7 hits and 6 earned runs.
The Barons struggled greatly defensively, committing 7 errors in the field. In the second game, Marrow had a good performance at the plate for FUS, going 2-4 with 1 RBI. Samuel Quillen and Steve Jagla had the other RBIs for the Barons. Starting pitcher Steve Jagla lasted three innings, giving up nine earned runs and seven hits. The Barons face a tough challenge as they play back-to-back double headers this weekend.
On Saturday FUS travels to Mt. Aloysius; first pitch is set for 1 p.m. On Sunday the Barons return home to the friendly confines of Vaccaro Field to face another AMCC opponent in Hilbert College at 1 p.m.
