Track and field student-athlete Julie Randall and baseball player Anthony Pontarelli were recently named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference All-Academic Team and honored by Franciscan with the FUS Kuzma Cup Award. One Final Game, One Final Win; Baron Baseball Finishes With Victory 5/5/11 | Baseball STEUBENVILLE—Eight years ago, the Franciscan University of Steubenville baseball program played its inaugural game against the Bethany College Bison. It was only fitting that on Thursday, in the program’s final game, the Bison came back to town. Using a late inning comeback, the Barons earned an 8-7 victory in front of the biggest home crowd they’ve seen all season. (More)

Game 2 Highlight: Baron Defense Dishes Out a Triple 5/2/11 | Baseball STEUBENVILLE—In the first game of the afternoon, the Franciscan University Barons trailed 8-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but they managed to squeeze seven runs into that tiny timeframe. The Barons could not complete the comeback, however, and fell 9-7. Continuing on, the Barons dropped game two of Monday’s doubleheader versus Mount Aloysius College by a wider margin of 8-1. (More)

April 30, 2011 Mavericks Top Barons in Doubleheader TORONTO, Ohio—The Baron baseball team dove deep into its bench to try and find consistency Saturday afternoon as the team fell to the visiting Mavericks of Medaille College, 14-3 and 5-4. April 29, 2011 Barons Drop Doubleheader to St. Vincent College STEUBENVILLE—The Franciscan University Barons baseball team played the first doubleheader of the final home stretch of the season against St. Vincent College on Friday afternoon. April 26, 2011 Baron Baseball Faces Third One-Point Loss BETHANY, W.Va.—After nine innings, two rain delays, and one close call, the Bethany Bison defeated the Franciscan University Barons 4-3 in a nonconference match-up. April 20, 2011 Barons Victim to Late Game Heroics by Greensburg BUTLER, Pa.—The Franciscan University Barons traveled to Pullman Park Wednesday afternoon to finish up the final two innings of a suspended first game of a doubleheader with the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. The game was postponed three weeks ago due to snow in Steubenville with Greensburg leading 5-2. The Panthers ended up taking both games by one run, the first 7-6 and the second 3-2 in eight innings. April 7, 2011 Franciscan Splits With AMCC-Powerhouse Altoona ALTOONA, Pa.—Coming off a sweep of D’Youville College on Sunday, the Franciscan University Barons traveled to Penn State Altoona Thursday afternoon. The Lions sat at No. 2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference entering the day with a 13-4 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the AMCC, but in the second game of the afternoon the Barons handed the home team their first conference loss of the year. April 3, 2011 Parsons Goes Yard; Barons Sweep D’Youville STEUBENVILLE—The Franciscan University baseball team picked up their first two conference wins of the year on Sunday in a doubleheader sweep of the D’Youville College Spartans. The games were originally scheduled to be played at D’Youville, but an unplayable field forced the Spartans to Franciscan’s Vaccaro Field.
