Game 2 Highlight: Baron Defense Dishes Out a Triple May 2, 2011 STEUBENVILLE—In the first game of the afternoon, the Franciscan University Barons trailed 8-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but they managed to squeeze seven runs into that tiny timeframe. The Barons could not complete the comeback, however, and fell 9-7. Continuing on, the Barons dropped game two of Monday’s doubleheader versus Mount Aloysius College by a wider margin of 8-1. The games were played at Toronto High School due to scheduling conflicts at Vaccaro Field.
April 29, 2011 | Baseball Barons Drop Doubleheader to St. Vincent College STEUBENVILLE—The Franciscan University Barons baseball team played the first doubleheader of the final home stretch of the season against St. Vincent College on Friday afternoon. The Barons squandered a 5-1 lead to drop game one 7-5, and could only muster up three hits in game two as they fell 10-2.
April 26, 2011 | Baseball Baron Baseball Faces Third One-Point Loss BETHANY, W.Va.—After nine innings, two rain delays, and one close call, the Bethany Bison defeated the Franciscan University Barons 4-3 in a nonconference match-up. Due to inclement weather, the teams were only able to play game one of the scheduled doubleheader.
April 20, 2011 | Baseball Barons Victim to Late Game Heroics by Greensburg BUTLER, Pa.—The Franciscan University Barons traveled to Pullman Park Wednesday afternoon to finish up the final two innings of a suspended first game of a doubleheader with the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. The game was postponed three weeks ago due to snow in Steubenville with Greensburg leading 5-2. The Panthers ended up taking both games by one run, the first 7-6 and the second 3-2 in eight innings.

The Barons struggled in a stagnate performance against the Red Hawks, losing 9-1 and 9-2.

April 7, 2011 | Baseball Franciscan Splits With AMCC-Powerhouse Altoona ALTOONA, Pa.—Coming off a sweep of D’Youville College on Sunday, the Franciscan University Barons traveled to Penn State Altoona Thursday afternoon. The Lions sat at No. 2 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference entering the day with a 13-4 overall record and a 4-0 mark in the AMCC, but in the second game of the afternoon the Barons handed the home team their first conference loss of the year.
April 3, 2011 | Baseball Parsons Goes Yard; Barons Sweep D’Youville STEUBENVILLE—The Franciscan University baseball team picked up their first two conference wins of the year on Sunday in a doubleheader sweep of the D’Youville College Spartans. The games were originally scheduled to be played at D’Youville, but an unplayable field forced the Spartans to Franciscan’s Vaccaro Field. The Barons clinched easy victories, winning game one 15-4, and game two 10-3.

March 26, 2011 | Baseball Barons Drop Two to Behrend STEUBENVILLE—The Franciscan University Barons baseball team hosted the Penn State Behrend Lions for its first home doubleheader of the year on Saturday. They dropped a close first game in eight innings by a score of 4-3, while also falling to the Lions in the second game of the day by a wider margin of 21-3.
