BUFFALO, NY - The Barons basketball team of Franciscan University of Steubenville traveled to D'Youville College on Friday, taking a 72-60 victory.  With the win, the Barons got their first conference victory and improved to 2-4 (1-2) on the season.

Franciscan took a slight 33-31 advantage into the locker room at halftime, but exploded in the second half, outscoring D'Youville 39-29 en route to their win.  Matt Liedel led all scorers with 22 points, and his 12 rebounds gave him a double-double on the night.  Josh Ducoulombier had 19 points on the night, while Connor Flanagan had 13 and Pete Burak had 11.  Raysean Johnson led D'Youville on the night with 12 points.

"I was really proud of the guys tonight," Barons coach Sean Donovan said.  "It was a really back-and-forth first half, but we were able to come out in the second with all pistols firing.  We got big minutes from the bench, and Matt Liedel and Josh Duke [Ducoulombier] had big games for us tonight.  It was great to get our first conference win under our belt."

The Barons' next contest is at Pitt-Greensburg on December 10 at 8 p.m.
