Barons Drop Fourth Straight against Frostburg

FROSTBURG, MD – The Barons basketball team of Franciscan University of Steubenville traveled to Frostburg State University Wednesday night for their first contest of the spring semester, losing 75-60. With the loss, the Barons fall 2-8 (1-6) in the season.

Senior Josh Ducoulombier had an outstanding performance for the Barons, leading all scorers with 17 points. Sam Titus had 8 points, while Thomas Klienschnitz and Pete Burak contributed 8 and 7 points, respectively. Steven Ogg was Frostburg’s top scorer with 16 points.

With the loss, the Barons fell 0-3 all-time against Frostburg. However, they will rematch the Bobcats at home February 10.

“We played hard tonight, and we managed to outscore them in the second half,” Barons coach Sean Donovan remarked. “Matt [Liedel] was out with an ankle injury, and that hurt us offensively. It’s nice to have Andrew Kay and Thomas Klienschnitz in the lineup, though, and I think that we’ll be very solid when we’re at full strength again. We hung with them for most of the game, but we had an eight minute drought in which we couldn’t score a basket, which killed us.”

The Barons play at home this Saturday at 4 p.m. against University of Pitt-Bradford.
