Andrew Kay High Scorer Against Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. — The Franciscan University Baron basketball team played their first conference game today against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Panthers. In a close contest of skill, the Barons lost 66-52.  The team is now 0-6 on the season.

"Possession by possession we continue to develop as a team," noted head coach John Lamanna. "I am pleased to see that our quality of play continues to improve game after game."

Starting players for this game were senior Andrew Kay, junior Dan Kroening, junior Frank Murray, sophomore John Trabbic, and freshmen Caleb Knorr. Kay led the scorers with 27 points and seven rebounds. Murray had 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals on the game. The Barons totaled 17 turnovers and 30 rebounds while Pitt-Bradford put up 45 rebounds for the win.

"Today we lost due to turnovers and a large number of rebounds by the other team," stated Lamanna. "However, when I took the job as head coach I knew it would be a process and we would not have instant gratification. We are creating a culture of basketball, learning and growing, and I see a bright future for this program."

The Barons host Mt. Aloysius College at home on Wednesday, Dec. 7th.  This will be their second conference game of the season.
