Barons Struggle on the Road

ALTOONA, Pa. - The Franciscan men's basketball struggled to get its offense going as the Barons fell on the road to Penn St.-Altoona, 81-56, Wednesday night.

"We had our struggles tonight. They were just one step ahead of us and we were just a little too slow," remarked head coach Joe Wallace.

The Barons led briefly in the opening minute of the contest but it was Penn St.-Altoona that controlled the game. The,Lions played a quick run-and-gun offense and built an easy 44-21 lead going into halftime.

The Lions did not let off the gas pedal and led by as many as 35 during the game. The Barons did trim the lead back to 24 with under seven minutes to play in the second but that would be as close as Franciscan would get as the Lions closed out the 81-56 win.

Junior Keoni Sablan led the Barons with 11 points while freshman Matt Trent posted his first double-double for the Barons with 10 points and 10 rebounds off of the bench.

"This is a resilient team. We'll be back at practice tomorrow and we will be ready for Saturday," continued coach Wallace. "We have been playing with a lot of urgency in the last few games and didn't do that tonight. We will get that back when we play Hilbert."

The Barons continued their quick road trip as they head to Buffalo, N.Y. for a 4pm tilt against AMCC opponent, Hilbert.
