STEUBENVILLE - Sophomore center Matt Trent earned the Franciscan men's basketball team's first weekly honor of the season as he was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, Tuesday afternoon.
Trent led the Barons to a 1-1 week in non-conference action. The sophomore helped the Barons to their first win over a non-conference opponent, 82-80 over Washington & Jefferson, since the 2014-15 season and posted his first double-double of the season against Grove City before the New Year. Trent averaged a double-double for the week (16 points/10.5 rebounds) and tied a career-best with 15 rebounds against Grove City adding his second-most point total (19) against the Wolverines. Trent shot 66.7% from the floor in both games and was 72.7% from the free throw line. Currently, Trent is second in the AMCC averaging 7.5 rebounds per game and second in total rebounds.
Trent and the Barons return to action on Wednesday when they host Pitt.-Greensburg in AMCC action at 6pm.
