DANBURY, Conn. - Senior Mike Rosaschi and freshman Jerome Harkins picked up their second weekly honor as the pair was named ECAC South Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
Rosaschi led the Barons to an impressive 2-0 week last week in which Franciscan out-scored its opponents 51-13. The Barons had 38 assists on their 51 goals and Rosaschi accounted for 11 of the assists and 11 of the goals. In the first game of the week, a 26-8 victory over Earlham College, Rosaschi scored five goals and four assists for nine points. The senior also recovered three ground balls and caused a turnover. In the final game of the week, a 25-5 victory over Medaille College, Rosaschi scored six goals with seven assists. He also recovered five groundballs and caused two turnovers.
Harkins set the tone for the defensive with a pair of impressive performances. The Somers, NY native set the Franciscan single-game record with 22 ground balls against Medaille College, finishing the week with 33 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. He won 17-of-25 face offs and only turned the ball over five times in two games.
The Barons return to action tonight as they take on Bethany (W. Va.) in the inaugural Blue Bridge Rivalry schedule for 7:00 pm on Bethany's campus.
