WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Josh Leatherby has been named a 2017-18 Rising Star by the National Small College Rugby Organization, as announced Tuesday morning.
NSCRO Rising Stars recognizes young players with emerging talents and show promise of confidently ascending towards NSCRO All-American recognition. 25 players from the 2017-18 season have been recognized by NSCRO as Rising Star while the orgazination has named 25 All-Americans as well. Players were considered based on nominations submitted to NSCRO, reports from NSCRO scouts at our playoffs and at the All-Star National Championship.
"Josh is a great leader and role model for our team across the board," remarked head coach Dan Kramer. "I am excited to see what his senior year holds."
During the season, Leatherby led the Barons to the Central East Regional Cup Championship with a 45-17 win over Taylor. Leatherby sparked a halftime change in the Barons and was named the MVP of the tournament by the NSCRO officials and coaches.
"Josh had a terrific fall season. He peaked in the Central East Regional Tournament where he was named the Tournament MVP."
Leatherby and the Barons kick off the 2018-19 season on September 1 as they host the University of Pittsburgh at 9:00 pm on Memorial Field.
