Barons Drop Regular Season Finale to Medaille

BUFFALO, NY – The Franciscan men's soccer team dropped its final game of the regular season to Medaille, Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops the Barons to 10-5-2 on the year and they wrap up the AMCC season 5-3-1 while Medaille improves to 12-4 and 7-1 in the league.

The lone tally of the first half was the difference maker in the game. With 3:47 left before the break, Mitchel Ali scored his 10th goal of the year with a one-touch chip just over the out-stretched Thomas Dosedel. The Mavericks had one final scoring chance but the header off a corner kick when high and the two teams went into halftime with the score 1-0 in favor of Medaille.

Following the break, the Barons were able to stave off a slew of Medaille shots and corners to keep the game close. Franciscan was able to get off three shots and was awarded two corners but could not find the back of the net. Medaille put the last two goals of the game in the final six minutes to seal the 3-0 win.

Senior Leo Herrmann led the Barons with three shots, two on goal while freshman JP Bobak had a pair of shots.

Dosedel mad six saves in net for the Barons.

Franciscan will now wait for the outcomes of Tuesday's AMCC contests to learn who the Barons will play in the first round of the 2017 AMCC tournament.
