Johann Marin has served as the head coach for the men’s and women’s Baron soccer teams since the fall of 2009.

Marin previously worked as the Wheeling Jesuit University goalkeeper coach during the 2003-04 season and volunteered as the assistant and goalkeeper coach responsible for the Junior Varsity travel team. Marin was a member of the elite board of international coaches who run the NY Cosmos Soccer Camp in Mawah, New Jersey, from 2002 until 2007. He holds certificates from FIFA/CONCACAF coaching seminars and trained under renowned professionals including: John Granville, Lincoln Phillips, and Peter Mellor. Marin was also a member of the Soccer Scientific Coaching Academy in Trinidad and played for the Trinidadian Professional Club Joe Public at the U-17 and U-20 levels.

Marin has extensive experience as goalkeeper for various teams in Trinidad. He represented the Northern Zone of Trinidad and Tobago in the U-14 age group and acted as team captain. After playing both soccer and cricket for Trinidad and Tobago from ages 14 to 16, Marin went on to join the national team in the U-17 age group and was elected vice-captain by the coaching staff during six international competitions against various Caribbean nations. He earned 11 international caps for the U-17 team including the U-17 World Cup team in El Salvador. Marin was the number one goalkeeper in Trinidad and Tobago in the 17 year old age group from 1997 to 1999.  Marin trained in the U-20 camp for two years in preparation for the U-20 tours and competition. Several of Marin’s teammates have gone on to play professional soccer for the West Indies and other international teams.

Marin holds a Bachelor of Science in Education for General Science from Wheeling Jesuit University. He currently resides in Wheeling, West Virginia with his wife, Sarah, and their 3 year old son, Hajiyianni.
