Men's Tennis Returns to Franciscan as Varsity Sport

Steubenville OH. The men's tennis team has returned to Franciscan athletics as the University's thirteenth varsity sport. With the new sports program comes the hiring of a new coach, new facilities, and the additional student-athletes.
The announcement of the opening of 6 new tennis courts has been a greatly anticipated addition to the varsity facilities offered by the University. The newly finished courts were part of a collaborative effort by the University and the City of Steubenville to provide recreational tennis opportunities to the surrounding community and to the University's NCAA student-athletes. The agreement allows Franciscan full usage of the courts during their NCAA Spring season and part of the Fall non-traditional season.
Along with new facilities, the tennis program also has a newly hired head coach. The athletic department recently hired California native and Franciscan graduate Curtis Allen to get the both tennis programs off the ground and build the program into the next competitive men's sport.
The Spring season will be begin on February 28 with Franciscan traveling to Penn State Behrend for their first contest of the team's varsity existence.
