Cross Country Adds Academics to Its Successes
NEW ORLEANS – The season may be over, but the accolades are still coming for the men and women of Franciscan University of Steubenville’s cross country teams. The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently announced its scholar athletes and teams for the 2011 year.

XC Runner Bill Jones Makes Franciscan History
WINNECONNE, Wis.— Franciscan University of Steubenville experienced history in the making Saturday afternoon as junior cross country runner, Bill Jones, competed at the NCAA Division III National Championship. Since Franciscan earned full Div. III membership this summer, Jones is the first ever Franciscan cross country runner or student-athlete to advance this far in competition.

Runners Honored for Championship Performance
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Receiving the honor of Player of the Week is not unusual for cross country runners Nicole Krajewski and Bill Jones. It is the third time for Krajewski and the fourth for Jones to be recognized by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference for outstanding performances this season.

The cross country runners were recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference a second time this season for their outstanding performances at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference cross country championships.

Men's Cross Country Earns Runner-Up at AMCC Championship
GRAND ISLE, N.Y. – It was a successful championship again for the Franciscan University of Steubenville cross country teams Saturday morning, as the women earned the championship title for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference for the fourth consecutive year, and the men's team placed second behind Penn State Behrend.

XC Teams Beat Rival at Inter-Regional Rumble
OBERLIN, Ohio— Franciscan University’s cross country teams competed Saturday morning in the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College. It was a strong finish for both the men and the women, as Bill Jones led the Barons to 22nd place out 34 for the 8K and Nicole Krajewski led the Lady Barons to a 16th out of 33 in the 6K.

Runners Hone Skills at Pitt-Greensburg Invite
GREENSBURG, Pa.— Franciscan University’s men and women’s cross country teams competed Saturday morning at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Invitational at the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds. The men’s team came in sixth place out of the nine teams competing in the 8K, while the women placed fourth out of twelve teams for the 6K race.

Franciscan XC Faces Top Teams at All-Ohio Championship
CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Franciscan University of Steubenville’s top cross country team runners competed Friday afternoon at the All-Ohio Championship, running against Division I, II, and III teams. The men’s team finished 25th out of 45 teams, while the women placed 29th out of a total of 47 teams.

Solid Performance for XC at St. Vincent Invitational
LATROBE, Pa.—The Franciscan University of Steubenville cross country team earned a solid spot at the St. Vincent Invitational meet Saturday morning. The men came in fourth out of nine and the women sixth out of 11. The top five runners for the Barons and the top seven runners for the Lady Barons did not compete, resting up for the All-Ohio Championship next Friday, Sept. 30.

Seeing Double: Two Take Home Player of the Week
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio—Two Franciscan fall athletes earned Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference player of the week honors this week for their outstanding play. Junior volleyball player Anna Cain and junior cross country runner Bill Jones took home the award for the week of September 19.

Strong Showing for XC at National Catholic Championship
NOTRE DAME, Ind.—Franciscan University’s Baron cross country team placed 23 out of 31 and Lady Barons placed 23 out of 33 at the University of Notre Dame’s 32nd annual National Catholic Championship this Friday, competing with schools from all NCAA divisions.

Franciscan Cross Country Starts Season Strong
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Franciscan University of Steubenville's men's and women's cross country teams both placed third out of 13 teams at the Westminster Invitational, beginning the new season on a positive note and revealing some strong new runners.
