Lady Barons Lose to Penn State Beaver

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Lady Barons of Franciscan University of Steubenville faced off against Penn State-Beaver in a home loss on Tuesday. FUS lost the game, 15-4, and was saved by a snowstorm that canceled the second game of the double header. The Lady Barons’ record now stands at 0-17 (0-8). The Lady Barons had a good offensive output in the game, but defensive errors caused them to give up numerous runs. Angelle Cupit led the Lady Barons with the Universities first out-of-the park solo homerun with 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored. Krista Bertke also had a solid performance with 2 hits and 1 run, while Kortney Runyan registered 1 hit, 1 RBI, and 1 run. Pitcher Mellissa Swoager led Penn State-Beaver with 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 3 runs. Right Fielder Jamie Karpinski also had a good game for the Nitty Lions, registering 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs. First baseman Lindsey Scialdone had 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 1 run. The Lady Barons away game on Wednesday has been postponed due to potential weather and will host a double header against Thiel College on Monday at 4 p.m.
