Lady Barons Drop Two to Pitt-Green

GREENSBURGH, PA – The Franciscan University of Steubenville Lady Barons are still winless after traveling to the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburgh on Tuesday. The Lady Barons lost both contests of the double header, 8-0 and 10-2. Their record now stands at 0-19 overall and 0-10 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. The Lady Barons struggled in the first game, failing to register anything on the scoreboard. Angelle Cupit, Katie Quitney, and Bethany Fischer each had 2 hits, but none of these translated into runs. Lindsay Harkins was the standout for Pitt-Greensburgh with 3 hits, 1 RBI, and 2 runs, while Lindsay Littler contributed 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs. The Lady Barons found some offensive rhythm in the second game with Katie Kirrane leading the Lady Barons with 3 hits and 1 RBI. Sarah Higinbotham and Bethany Fischer each had 1 hit and 1 run scored, while Angelle Cupit had 2 hits and Megan Quinlan contributed a hit and an RBI. Littler was dominant once again for Pitt-Greensburgh, registering 2 hits and 2 runs, while Kelly Welsh added 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 1 run. Angelle Cupit now leads the Lady Barons on the season with 19 hits, 6 RBIs, and 8 runs scored. Catcher Katie Quitney is a close second with 12 hits, 6 RBIs, and 4 runs. The Lady Barons’ next contest is a double header on the road Thursday at Penn State-Greater Allegheny at 4 p.m.
