Lady Barons Lose Both Games of Double Header to Medaille


STEUBENVILLE, OH – Franciscan University of Steubenville Lady Barons lost two to Medaille College Lady Mav’s at home in a double header on Tuesday, 13-4 and 10-4. The Lady Baron’s now hold a 0-12 overall record and fall to 0-4 in the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference. Sophomore Angelle Cupit was the offensive standout for Franciscan in the first game, registering 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs. Captain Kortney Runyan had 1 hit and 2 runs scored, while junior Krista Bertke had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Sophomore Alyssa Zemla led the Lady Mav’s in the first game with 1 hit, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Sophomore Carrie Stahura had 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 2 runs for Medaille, while freshman Keeley John contributed 2 hits and 2 runs. The second game was slightly better for the Lady Barons with junior Katie Quitney continuing her consistent hitting, registering 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 1 run. Bertke had another solid performance with 2 hits and 2 RBIs, while Cupit had 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Stahura led the Lady Mav’s in the second game with 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs. Zemla was also atop the stat sheet with 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and 1 run. The Lady Barons next game is a home double header against Mount Aloysius College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
