Lady Barons Drop Two to La Roche

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Lady Barons of Franciscan University of Steubenville took on La Roche on the road on Thursday night, losing both contests, 10-0 and 9-1. The Lady Barons record now stands at 1-22 (1-13).

The first game was extremely difficult for the Lady Barons, and they only managed to get 4 hits the entire game. Centerfielder Syndie Martin led La Roche with 3 hits, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Kayla Strittmater also had a solid game with 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored.

The second game was no easier for the Lady Barons, and it ended in a 9-1 loss. Krista Bertke led the Lady Barons with 2 hits and 1 run scored. Kourtney Runyan had 2 hits, and Nicole Lancour had 1 RBI. Strittmater led La Roche again in this game with 2 hits, 1 RBI, and 1 run scored.

Lady Barons Head Coach Amanda Gutowski was quick to praise La Roche following the loss: "They were a tough program and we had a hard time. Not everyone was 100% today, but we made a lot of good things happen, but we just didn't capitalize on key moments to get ourselves back into the game."

The Lady Barons' next contest is Friday against Penn State Behrend at 4 p.m.
