Terry Leighty began his first year as head softball coach for the Lady Barons in the fall of 2010. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Leighty has played softball for the past 35 years.  He was selected all-city numerous times, all-world selection five times, and was part of the all-decade team from 1975-1985. Leighty was inducted into the Greater Cleveland Softball Hall of Fame in 2005.

From 1999 until 2004, Leighty served as the head softball coach at Holy Name High School and was the first fast pitch coach in the school’s history.  During the six years at Holy Name, he brought the team to a record of 113-31 and won three conference titles, four district titles, and took the team to the regional championships three times. Leighty also earned the North Coast League Coach of the Year three times and in 2001, earned Plain Dealer Coach of the Year.

Leighty coached the Notre Dame College softball team in South Euclid, Ohio, from 2004-2005. He surpassed the team’s previous school record of 16-26 with a record of 23-17 and took the team to the regional championship where they placed third; it was Notre Dame’s first trip to regional competition ever.

Before joining the FUS coaching staff, Leighty served as assistant softball coach at Magnificat High School in Rocky River, Ohio. Terry Leighty and his wife reside in Strongsville, Ohio. They have six grown children and five grandchildren.

Jennifer Parker

Jennifer Parker

Title: Assistant Softball Coach

Jen Parker joined the Franciscan University coaching staff in the fall of 2010 as Assistant Softball Coach to Terry Leighty.

Parker played collegiate softball at Chestnut Hill College where she started as third baseman and served as backup for the shortstop and catcher. She graduated from Chestnut Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics before heading to Franciscan University to earn a master’s degree in education.

Currently working as Manager of Development Data Services for the Department of Advancement at Franciscan, Parker is also working on her MBA.  She resides in Bloomingdale, Ohio, with her husband, Todd, their son Curt, and a menagerie of pets.

Jodi Rielly

Jodi Rielly

Title: Assistant Softball Coach

Jodi Rielly has joined the staff of the Women’s Softball team this year as an assistant coach. Rielly is from the Steubenville area and has attended both Steubenville Catholic Central and Wintersville High School. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry/Pre-med from Ohio University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Franciscan. She currently is a teacher at Buckeye Local High School. Having been on the field in some capacity either as a player or a coach since the age of nine, Rielly has spent the last five years coaching local baseball and softball teams.

Rielly currently lives in Steubenville with her husband, Mike, and their four children—Tyler, Katie, Ben and Sophie.
