Lady Barons Fall to Frostburg State

Lady Barons Fall to Frostburg State

The Lady Barons took on Frostburg State in their first match after the break on Wednesday night.  After playing it close in the first half, the Lady Barons slipped away in the second, allowing Frostburg State to procure a 69-41 victory.

The Lady Barons were competitive in the first half, and only trailed by ten points at halftime against a talented Frostburg team.

However, as the second half commenced, the game began to get away from the Lady Barons.  Head Coach Kelly Herrmann attributed this to the difficulty of playing their first game after winter break:  "We came back out of shape, and we know that.  By the second half, we were tired, and they weren't.  We had some opportunities, especially to get rebounds off the glass,  but we were unable to capitalize because of our lack of energy."

Coach Herrmann was also quick to praise the skill of their opponents.  "They are a very quick and athletic team.  It was tough today, but we look forward to playing them again."

Several Lady Barons posted impressive numbers in the loss.  Nicole Naugle led the Lady Barons in scoring with eight points, and four other players had six points each.  Every player on the Lady Barons roster scored in the game.  Sarah Viancourt led the team in rebounds with nine boards, and Cara Mitchell contributed seven.

The Lady Barons' next contest is Saturday at one o'clock against La Roche College..
