Lady Barons Fall to Waynesburg in Opener

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Lady Barons of Franciscan University of Steubenville faced Waynesburg University on the road in their season opener on Tuesday.  Waynesburg scored on a goal by Danielle Danhires 16:32 into the first half, and Franciscan was unable to answer the goal for the entire game.  The Lady Barons' record currently stands at 0-1 (0-0).

Clare Grchan led Franciscan on the day with 3 shots on goal, while teammates Stacey Lancour, Regina Recznik, and Erin Fitzpatrick had 2 shots on goal each.  Goalkeeper Nikki Traylor had 5 saves on 6 shots. 

Courtney Ebersole was the offensive standout for Waynesburg with 4 shots (3 on goal).  Danielle Danhires had 1 goal, and Katie Gaspich had an assist.  Goalkeeper Kelly Katrina had an outstanding performance with 12 saves and no goals allowed.

The Lady Barons' next contest is scheduled for September 3 at home against Thiel College.
