Lady Barons Come Up Short Against Ursuline

STEUBENVILLE, OH – The Lady Barons came up short in their meet against Ursuline on Saturday with a final score of 90-92.

The meet kicked off with the 200-yard medley relay where Maya Staton, Katie Cunningham, Elizabeth McNulty, and Sarah Tohill clinched first with a time of 2:25.79. 

In diving, Tohill scored a 147.82 in the first round. Tohill received a score of 117.00 for the second round of diving.

Cunningham went on to secure second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:07.27 and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with Abby Commarford taking fourth (1:35.74).  Commarford also took second in the 500-yard freestyle (7:08.47).

Staton came in second for the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:49.08. In the 100-yard backstroke Staton came in fourth with a time of 1:30.52.

For the 200-yard IM McNulty secured second (2:22.20) and clinched first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:05.87).

Franciscan had three swimmers in the 50-yard freestyle with Maris Bey clinching first (28.72), Rachael June taking fourth (38.71), and Marguerite Stonier taking fifth (41.55). Bey, June, and Stonier also swam in the 100-yard freestyle. Bey came in third (1:08.74), June took fourth (1:27:55), and Stonier took fifth (1:32.68).

To wrap up the meet Bey, June, Stonier, and Commarford swam the 400-yard freestyle relay, clinching first with a time of 5:23.83.

The Lady Barons return to the pool with a double header against Bethany and Cabrini Saturday, December 9th, at 11:00 am.
