Swimming & Diving Team Earns Runner-Up in AMCC 2/18/12 | Swimming & Diving GROVE CITY, Pa.— The first year for Franciscan University’s swimming and diving team has proved to be a season filled with excellence and Saturday proved no differently. After four days of competition in Grove City College’s James E. Longnecker Invitational, which serves as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championship, the Lady Barons ended their season runners-up in the AMCC. Lady Barons Continue to Excel at Championship 2/17/12 | Swimming & Diving GROVE CITY, Pa.—The inaugural swimming and diving team at Franciscan University continues to lay a foundation for a tradition of success as they compete at the James E. Longnecker Invitational hosted by Grove City College this week where they are competing with athletes in both the Presidents’ Athletic Conference and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. Swimming & Diving Team Hosts First-Ever Home Meet 2/4/12 | Swimming & Diving STEUBENVILLE, Ohio. — It was a historical moment for Franciscan University’s inaugural Lady Baron swimming and diving team Saturday afternoon, hosting its first-ever home tri-meet at Steubenville High School. January 11, 2012 Lady Barons Swim New Events to Split Dual Meet WASHINGTON, Pa.—The Lady Baron swimming and diving team split the Washington and Jefferson College Meet Wednesday evening; the Franciscan swimmers defeated Bethany College 59-43, but fell to host Washington and Jefferson, 64-33. The Lady Baron swimming and diving team is 4-6 overall in its freshmen season, and 2-1 in the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference. (More)

January 9, 2012 First-Ever Lady Baron Swimmer Honored By The AMCC STEUBENVILLE, Ohio—For the first time ever, a member of the Lady Baron swimming and diving team was honored as the Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference swimmer of the week. January 7, 2012 Lady Barons Smoke Competition At Dual Meet FROSTBURG, Md.—Franciscan University’s swimming and diving team clinched two victories in a double dual sweep Saturday afternoon in their first contest of 2012. November 5, 2011 Lady Baron Swimmers Face Fast-Paced Meet PITTSBURGH—The Lady Baron swim team learned a lesson in losing when it competed in the non-conference Chatham University Invitational Saturday afternoon. October 29, 2011 Coach Enthusiastic After 1st AMCC Swimming & Diving Meet ERIE, Pa.—The Lady Baron swimming and diving team competed in its first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference meet Saturday afternoon. The NCAA newcomers traveled to Penn State Behrend, splitting a double-dual meet with Behrend and Bethany College. Franciscan beat Bethany, 60-41, and lost to Behrend, 42-57. The split result means that the Lady Barons are 1-1 on the season in the AMCC and 1-2 overall. (More)

October 22, 2011 Inaugural Swimming & Diving Team Embrace Agon STEUBENVILLE, Ohio—"When I had to quit swimming in college due to a shoulder injury, I knew I wanted to stay in the sport somehow," said Nathan Blake. He continued his passion by coaching for several schools, recreational teams, and eventually served as the head coach for the USA team in Weirton, W. Va. Most recently, he was given the head coaching position for the new NCAA Division III women's swimming and diving team at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Blake took full advantage of the freedom he was handed in creating the program. (More)

October 22, 2011 Lady Barons Receive Praise at Inaugural Meet BRADFORD, Pa.—The Lady Baron swim team tied with Ursuline College for sixth place at the 2011 Panther Relays in its first meet at the University of Pittsburgh Bradford. The Saturday afternoon meet was mixed—meaning that men’s and women’s teams were competing—so Franciscan University didn’t have swimmers in every event. Head coach Nathan Blake wanted his all-women team to attend for the experience. (More)
