Lady Barons Swept by Muskingum
STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Lady Barons of Franciscan University of Steubenville hosted Muskingum College on Wednesday night, losing 16-25, 13-25, 23-25. With the loss, the Lady Barons fell to 3-4 on the season.
Several Lady Barons posted impressive numbers in the loss. Meghan Kay led the team with 9 kills, while Anna Cain contributed 8. Teresa Marcotte had 13 assists on the night, with Paddy Scott contributing 5. Nicole Henson was once again Franciscan's defensive standout with 17 digs, while Juilie Matanzo contributed 8.
"Muskingum is always a tough team," Lady Barons coach Kelly Herrmann remarked in a post-game interview, "We struggled in the first and second games, but played well in the third. The first and second games should have had scores similar to the third, but we had several careless errors. We were hitting well, we were setting well, but those careless mistakes kept us out of the first two games. We have to keep learning, we have to keep working hard. If we do that, we'll be able to compete with a team as large and strong as Muskingum."
The Lady Barons' next contest is scheduled for September 16 at Carlisle University at 7 p.m.
