Freshman Anna Cain Named Newcomer of the Year

Lady Baron Freshman Anna Cain received the Newcomer of the Year for 2009 from the Allegheny Mountain Conference. The Franciscan coaching staff nominated Anna and all conference coaches voted.

Anna led the Lady Barons this year in:  

• Blocks - .8 blocks per set with total of 63.  (Kelli Flannigan was the next highest on our team with 31)
• Hitting % - 28% (Ali Aeschliman was second with 21%)
• Service aces - 37 (Meg Kay and Teresa Marcotte tied for second with 20 each)
• 2nd in Kills per set with 1.82 (Meg Kay led the teamwith 2.95)
• She was also tied with Teresa Marcotte for second in least service errors with .04 per set. (Kelli Flannigan led the team with .03 per set)
