FUS Cross Country Finish 1st and 4th at Saint Vincent College

LATROBE, PA-The Franciscan University of Steubenville's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Saint Vincent College Cross Country Invitational this Saturday. The women's team defended their first place title from last year by finishing first place of 11 teams. The men's team finished fourth overall.
The women's team, having all five scorers finishing in the top 20, scored 41 points for the first win of the season. Prominent races came from junior Erin Bliss, finishing second place with a time of 19:20, sophomore Monica Rust, finishing 4th in 19:58, freshman Anna Hogan, placing seventh, freshman Annie Asmussen finishing ninth and sophomore Anna Scarnecchia in nineteenth.
"The team puts forth more effort each race," commented head coach Dr. Dan Kuebler post-race, "I'm really proud of everyone on the team".
The men's team placed the highest they have at this invitational, finishing fourth amongst nine teams. Freshman Bill Jones led the men's team again finishing in second place. Freshman Kevin Leroy, placing 15th, and junior Kevin Codd each ran phenomenal races cutting roughly 30 seconds off of last week's 8k times.
Both teams will be competing again in two weeks at Carnegie Melon on October 11th.
