Lady Barons finish 6th in DIII at All Ohio Championships

Delaware, OH-Franciscan University of Steubenville's women's cross country team finished 14th out of 42 teams at the Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country Championship on Friday. Out of the 21 NCAA Division III teams, the Lady Barons placed sixth with a score of 167 points-only five points behind fifth placed Ohio Northern and 28 points behind Baldwin-Wallace, who placed third.

Case Western took the Division III title with 70 points. Leading the Franciscan's team through the muddy and hilly course, sophomore Theresa Evans finished in third place for Division III (17th in all divisions) with a time of 19:12. Seniors Erin Bliss and Monica Rust were quick to follow in 7th and 9th places with times of 19:43 and 19:46, respectively. Junior Lexie Mathis and sophomore Anna Hogan finished the difficult course close together, placing 73rd and 75th with times of 21:52 and 21:53.

"The women raced very well against the competition here," commented head coach Dr. Daniel Kuebler post-race. "This was our best performance ever at this meet." The men's and women's teams can next be seen racing at the Kelly Roggensack Memorial 5k Race on Saturday, October 3rd and at the Carnegie-Mellon Invite on Saturday, October 10.
