STEUBENVILLE – Senior Grace Galligan (Springfield, PA/Saint Philomena Academy) and freshman Alison Bryant (Arlington, TX / Nolan Catholic High School) led the Franciscan women's cross country team to a first-place finish in the 2018 Franciscan Invitational, Saturday morning.
Galligan and Bryant crossed the finish line together at 24:33.75 to take first and second place, respectively. Freshman Mary Jo Schirger (Rochester, MN/Mayo) was just six seconds behind the third-place runner as she took fourth overall with a time of 25:57.42.
Junior Kristine Stickney (Apex, NC/Home School) took sixth overall and fourth for the Lady Barons with a time of 26:36.24 while sophomore Elizabeth O'Connor (Severna Park, MD/Trinity Christian) rounded out the scoring runners for Franciscan with an eighth-place finish with a time of 26:51.63.
Senior Carolyn Poston (North Royalton, OH/Kolbe Academy) took 10th overall for the Lady Barons with a time of 27:32.36 while sophomore Morgan Litterer (Lake in the Hills, IL/Marian Central Catholic) rounded out the top seven Lady Barons with an 11th place finish and a time of 27:44..49.
The Lady Barons will run next Saturday at the All-Ohio meet in Akron, Ohio.
